Rabbi Peter Young
is a proud alumnus and ordinee of Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion. Raised in Southern California, he cultivated a deep love for Jewish learning and community at Wilshire Boulevard Temple Camps. During rabbinical school, Peter was a Nachshon Project Graduate Fellow and the recipient of the Rabbi Aaron Panken Memorial Scholarship. He served as a Levite at Nava Tehila in Jerusalem and as a rabbinic intern at Kehillat Shir Chadash in Tzur Hadassah. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he completed his Clinical Pastoral Education at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He earned an M.A. in Hebrew Literature from HUC-JIR in New York City and an M.A. in Jewish Education from the Davidson School at the Jewish Theological Seminary.
Peter joined Temple Israel of the City of New York as a Rabbinic Intern in 2020 and became Assistant Rabbi following his ordination in 2024. He is married to Cantor Sara Anderson, and together they are the proud parents of their daughter, Goldie.
